About Us

For 25+ years the Art School of Peterborough has offered the Peterborough community opportunities to explore their creativity and build their visual art skills.

Founded in 1993 by Richard Hayman as a not for profit organization, his dedication to the arts and spirit lives on through The Art School. It has been my privilege to continue his vision of bringing accessible art programming to our community. Over the last few years resilience has been key to survival. We have pushed boundaries and translated our programming in exciting new ways. As our circumstances are continuously changing, I am proud to navigate the school’s programming to be adaptable and accessible to all.

The Art School of Peterborough is dedicated to facilitating and encouraging the growth of creativity and skills in visual art forms for everyone.

The Art School Mission Statement

I am forever thankful for my dedicated professional instructors, backed by a supportive board, staff and many volunteers. Though the Art School’s wonderful creative energy could not exist without out our students. They are the heart and soul of our establishment, they are the reason we do what we do. They bring the school to life. It is my goal to ensure they feel part of our inclusive creative community and offer them new programming opportunities to allow them to develop and grow as artistic individuals.

2024 will mark our 30th Anniversary as a not-for-profit organization and I’m extremely proud of our accomplishments over the years and continual strive to reach a broader audience.

I welcome you into our creative community. It is a safe place to take creative risks for all ages.

Sincerely,

Jenni Johnston
