This cartooning course introduces students to depicting movement, emotions, and basic storytelling through their work, and serves as an introduction to anyone interested in animation.
Students will be introduced to the basics of character design and learn the importance of symbols and emotion within their work.

This year we are asking students to bring their own pencil cases with general supplies: pencils/ or pencil set, white eraser, scissors and ruler along with a sketchbook. Additional supplies will be noted in the outline if needed.

Course Outline

• Expressions matching feelings
• Variations of expressions/start favourite 4/character design (1 character)
• Face/Head shapes/hairstyles using expressions 
• Body types/gestures/colour
• Hands/feet/movement
• Mini comic (1 character)
• Background design (feelings of atmosphere/mood)
• Second character design (fully rendered)
• Simple Interactions using expressions (2 characters)
• 4-6 section comic using 2 characters with atmosphere changing in the setting.
