Debra has always been attracted to colorful vibrant images of people, places and things that spark her imagination. Animal and people portraits are her favorite.
This is evident if you visit her website, attended one of her many watercolor workshops or view her paintings in person. Debra’s philosophy to painting is “to be true to yourself”.

Debra has exhibited professionally since 2009. In 2010 she launched her first solo art show and has won a number of awards for her art work as well as being included in a number of publications. In 2014 The East Central Ontario Arts Association awarded Debra the Jurors Choice in for “Swan Parade” and in 2019 she received First Prize Watercolour for “Polar Prowess” at the Buckhorn Fine Arts Festival. The same year Debra and her painting “At the Back Door” was featured in the arts/entertainment magazine “The Link”. To round out the year “Polar Prowess” took first prize at the Buckhorn Festival of the Arts Open Competition. Most recently (2021) Debra’s painting “Harvesting Hope” was accepted into the International Watercolor Society’s (IWS) North American Exhibition "Giving Light to the World" while later in June 2022 her painting “Who Gives A Hoot” was included in the spring edition of IWS Canadian Watercolour.
Debra’s studio overlooks Buckhorn Lake, part of the Trent Severn Waterway. She also loves teaching classes and workshops in watercolour techniques as well as encouraging artists to have have fun and be true to their own style of painting. Debra’s paintings and patrons can be found across Canada, the U.S. and Europe. She is a member of East Central Ontario Arts Association, The Kawartha Lakes Arts Council and The International Watercolor Society.
