Wednesday 6-9 p.m.

Offering students with any level of experience an opportunity to learn how to paint using the grid technique - using black and white oil paint to transfer a source image onto canvas. Previous students that have started a portrait can continue to paint and complete their painting in this class.

This process is very detailed, but highly successful.

It is mandatory that all new students attend the first week as canvases will be given out and prep work for painting will be given, and students will have a tour of Alex's Studio. Please come with a pencil and ruler first week.

Material Fee - $70
(for Canvas and printing) Students still need to purchase brushes and paints

This course is designed to capture the joys of photography – to create interesting images that combine the sensibility or feelings of a photographic eye with technique and tools of photography equipment - to distinguish between superior and mediocre images and to better understand the harmony of artistic elements, compositions, light and exposure, with the capabilities of film, the camera, lenses and accessories.

The course will be comprised of eight weekly 3-hour sessions, two of which will be ‘travel shots’ to events or places to do on-site photography.

This is a progressive course, from an understanding of the basic principals of photography to equipment, artistic elements, travel tips, technique, subject, people, landscape, presentation and preservation.

Digital Images will be used extensively to illustrate technique, composition, and exposure.

During the teaching sessions, students will be required to do a photographic project each week and present five images at the following lesson for evaluation and learning. Photos can be brought in on CD or card reader or memory stick/data traveller devices.
